Ginger Turmeric Shots

I love a good "digestion" or "immunity" shot in the juice aisle at the grocery store, but they are so expensive! You may pay anywhere from $3-$5 for 1-2 ounces of juice. I find this outrageous, so I decided to make my own at home.

As cold and flu season draws near, I need all the immune boosting help I can get!

Both ginger and turmeric are anti-inflammatory and can help contribute to a healthy gut, improved immunity, and relief from allergies, PMS, anxiety – you name it! Add some of these powerful foods into your diet with this recipe for Ginger Turmeric Shots.

You will need:

2 medium ginger roots, peeled if desired

1 Tablespoon ground turmeric

Juice of 2 lemons

1 1/2 cups plain water, coconut water, or flavored coconut water (I like Vita Coco Pineapple!)

Blender

Small strainer

Large stainless bowl or measuring cup

*keep in mind that the dishes you use may become stained from the turmeric!

Directions:

Add the ginger, turmeric, lemon juice, and water to the blender and blend until combined. (You don't need to peel your ginger – it will get caught in the strainer later!) Set up your strainer over the bowl or measuring cup. Pour the mixture through the strainer into the bowl. Using a spoon, press the mixture into the strainer to squeeze all the liquid out. Dispose of the solids left in the strainer, or use it for compost! Divide your liquid into individual 1-2 ounce "shots" and take once daily.

Happy Health!
