Check walking off the list.
The holidays are upon us, and everyone is busy making their grocery and gift lists. The one thing we still need to add to the list is walking. Make walking the top of your to-do list every day. During this busy time of year, holiday parties and shopping can be stressful. It can be hard to fit everything into one day, week, or even month. Adding 30 minutes of walking a day can help ease our stress, clear our minds, and make us feel better during a busy time. A brisk walk can even give us the energy we need to tackle the other items on our long list.
Walking is the best form of exercise and stress reliever. Not to mention, it’s free, and we can do it alone, with a friend, or even our pet. Walking is a bonus for our pets too!
Looking for ways to get more steps in on a daily basis?
While looking for that parking spot at the mall, always look for the spots farthest from the door. The extra steps you take from the car to do the door add up! While shopping in the mall, take an extra lap and do some window shopping. Aim to get 10,000 steps to maintain good health. By adding more steps to your day, you are also adding more benefits to your health and weight. Always strive for 10,000 steps, or more, a day.
This time of year, we are fortunate that the weather is still on the nicer side. We may have to bundle up and add layers in the beginning, but once we start moving, the layers can be peeled away like an onion. Always remember to bring water with you even though it’s not hot and humid out, we are still sweating and losing water and electrolytes. Always replenish what we have lost with extra water.
When the calendar starts filling up, don’t forget to add your walk to the to-do list each day. Make walking a priority to help you stay consistent. The more we walk, the better we will feel both mentally and physically. We all need the energy boast with our long list of things to do this holiday season. So grab your shoes, a jacket, and your water, and add walking to your to-do list starting today!
Happy health,
Donna
